Juror’s Choice Award winner Naghmeh Navabi focuses on her roots and identity as a woman in the Islamic world. She creates her images by delving into the relationship between society and the individual. While her works are grounded on feminism, they remind us of pains and longing rooted in experiences. Seeing how Navabi presents important themes of the times with her fresh images, I am curious in how her work would match with the invaluably traditional collotype process. Her works gave me a sense that the layer of time will stand out on its own as an unique expression.
